Rīgas ūdens SIA Receives the Highest Possible Rating for Its 2025 Performance Results

At the shareholders’ meeting of Rīgas ūdens SIA, the company’s Annual Report for 2025 and the assessment of its 2025 performance results were approved. The meeting also adopted a decision on allocating the company’s profit for the previous year to dividends, the development of water management infrastructure, and the company’s further operational development.

Following an assessment of the company’s financial efficiency, the achievement of the financial and non-financial targets set out in its medium-term operational strategy, the performance of the Management Board and Supervisory Board, as well as compliance with public disclosure obligations, the 2025 performance results of Rīgas ūdens SIA were rated with the highest possible assessment. The decision was adopted by Riga City Municipality as the holder of the company’s capital shares.

Jānis Lange, Executive Director of the City of Riga and representative of Riga City Municipality as the holder of the company’s capital shares, said: “Rīgas ūdens’ performance results for 2025 deserve the highest rating — very good. They demonstrate the company’s ability to provide stable and high-quality public services while implementing a substantial investment programme and developing transparent governance. The company has demonstrated strategic vision and financial discipline, including by successfully entering the capital market and becoming the first municipal capital company in Latvia to issue European Green Bonds. This is a significant confirmation of the company’s ability to develop Riga’s water management infrastructure in the long term.”

Rīgas ūdens SIA closed 2025 with a profit of EUR 590,519. At the shareholders’ meeting, it was decided to allocate 10%, or EUR 59,052, to dividend payments; 30%, or EUR 177,156, to the development of centralised water supply and sewerage systems in Dārziņi; and to leave 60%, or EUR 354,311, undistributed, with this share of profit intended to be used for the provision of water management services and the development of the company’s operations in line with the Rīgas ūdens Medium-Term Operational Strategy for 2025–2030.

The shareholders’ meeting also determined that Rīgas ūdens SIA qualifies as a large capital company. This status was established on the basis of the company’s 2025 indicators: total balance sheet assets of EUR 752,146,302, net turnover of EUR 80,320,805, and an average number of 751 employees. It was also determined that Rīgas ūdens SIA belongs to the group of commercial capital companies of a public person. By decision of the shareholders’ meeting, Potapoviča un Andersone SIA was approved as the auditor of Rīgas ūdens SIA for the audit of the 2026 and 2027 annual reports and for the provision of assurance services for the sustainability report. The issue of approving Rīgas ūdens’ Letter of Expectations is scheduled to be considered on 4 June.

Krišjānis Krūmiņš, Chair of the Management Board of Rīgas ūdens SIA, said: “It is in the long-term interests of Riga and its residents both to expand access to centralised water supply and sewerage services and to systematically renew the existing infrastructure. In 2025, we already significantly increased the scale of infrastructure renewal by renovating 24 kilometres of pipelines, and we plan to continue this work in the coming years. The shareholders’ meeting’s decision to allocate part of the profit to infrastructure development will help us continue making timely investments in network renewal and service quality improvements, while reducing the risk of cost increases associated with delayed infrastructure renewal.”

Rīgas ūdens SIA is wholly owned by Riga City Municipality, which, at the shareholders’ meeting, adopts decisions falling within the competence of the company’s owner. The company provides public water management services delegated by the municipality in Riga and in certain areas of the Riga metropolitan area.

In 2025, Rīgas ūdens SIA achieved core operating revenue of EUR 80.32 million, which is 5.2% more than a year earlier, while EBITDA profitability increased to 38.6%. The company’s investment volume last year reached EUR 48.5 million, the highest level in the past five years, while the balance sheet value increased to EUR 752.1 million. In 2025, the company supplied more than 36 million m³ of drinking water to customers and treated more than 50 million m³ of wastewater.
